MINNEAPOLIS, MN.-June 29 – Ken Loach’s hilarious film LOOKING FOR ERIC
lights up the screen at St. Anthony Main Theater July 9th through
15th. Showtimes: Fri. July 9 thru Sun. July 11 @ 1:30, 4:30, 7:15,
9:40; Mon. July 12 thru Thu. July 15 @ 4:30, 7:15, 9:40
For British postman Eric Bishop, life has never been worse. His wife
is long gone, leaving him to tend to a chaotic household and two out
of control stepsons, and he’s struggling to deal with a secret love
for a woman he runs into after avoiding for years. Bishop’s coworkers
try
everything to cheer him up, but it’s only when Manchester United
soccer star Eric Cantona hilariously appears in Bishop’s bedroom, that
the postman realizes it’s time to make a change.
Eric Bishop finally lost his grip after seeing his first wife Lily
nearly 30 years after they had fallen for each other. Bishop had
loved Lily like no other, and when she had become pregnant, he was
determined to do right by her. However, the prospect of real
responsibility had
scared him into running off, and he buried his feelings for her as
deeply as he could.
Now, Bishop’s struggles with Lily become the gravy on top of his
already rather full plate of unpleasant responsibilities. Seeing his
grip on reality slipping, Bishop’s friends do their best to cheer him
up, sometimes referring to tips in the local library’s self-help books
for
lack of a better option. But in the end it takes a spliff and some
guidance from Bishop’s soccer hero Eric Cantona to help the lost
postman find his way.
With 23 films under his belt including The Wind that Shakes the
Barley, director Ken Loach is an acclaimed British filmmaker, and has
been extremely successful in festivals such as Cannes. His 1970 film
KES is considered one of the best films ever to come out of England.
Looking for Eric was shot entirely on site in Manchester, England. In
2009, it won Best Supporting Actor from the British Independent Film
Awards, and was nominated for European Actor by the European Film
Awards. Featuring a solid cast of actors, and a hilarious yet touching
storyline, Looking for Eric is one film that is not to be missed.

FEARLESS FILMMAKERS OFFICIALLY TEAMS UP WITH TWIN CITIES FILM FEST
The Fearless Filmmaker series was created to provide a platform for Minnesota Filmmakers to showcase their work. It is no surprise that the first event born of the partnership formed between FF and the new Twin Cities Film Fest will be in celebration of Minnesota’s newest feature film - ROUGH TENDER.
The film is a sweet and intense love story featuring Melanie and Barrett, two people who live very different lives. One day while at the library, the two cross paths and become romantically involved. As they continue to date, Barrett’s aggressive bipolar behavior begins to rattle their relationship. Complete with barfights, vampire abductions, library love and a 1968 Nova, ROUGH TENDER has a little for everyone to love. For more information regarding the film, please visit www.roughtendermovie.com.
This will be the first of multiple “Pre – Festival Events” leading up to the official launch of Twin Cities Film Fest on September 28th, 2010. The goal is a simple one: To offer audiences access to the best films the global industry has to offer, to stimulate economic activity in the Twin Cities and to offer filmmakers a premiere venue at which to premiere their work. This aligns perfectly with what Fearless Filmmakers has strived to achieve locally in Minnesota – and both organizations are very excited of what the future holds for The Twin Cities.
